Evidence

established

Large RCTs establish substantial weight loss and cardiometabolic (including cardiovascular event) benefit, which credibly supports the healthspan/metabolic longevity claim; broader all-cause lifespan extension in healthy people is not yet proven.

Regulatory notes

European Union
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are EMA/AEMPS-authorised medicines; prescription-only, and unlicensed compounded copies are not permitted.
United States
Branded products (Ozempic/Wegovy/Mounjaro/Zepbound) are FDA-approved; compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are now largely prohibited following resolution of the 2024-2025 shortages, with only narrow documented-medical-need exceptions.
United Arab Emirates
Approved branded GLP-1 products require DHA/DoH-licensed prescribing; compounded/unlicensed versions are not authorised.
United Kingdom
MHRA-authorised as prescription-only medicines; the longevity/anti-aging framing is off-label and compounded versions are not licensed.
