Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Therapy

Bone marrow is aspirated (usually from the iliac crest), concentrated by centrifugation, and injected into joints or soft tissue for orthopedic repair and 'regenerative' joint care; frequently listed alongside PRP on regenerative-clinic menus.

Evidence

experimental

Human data are limited to small orthopedic studies with mixed results, and there is no evidence supporting BMAC for systemic anti-aging or longevity.

Regulatory notes

European Union
Minimally manipulated, same-procedure autologous BMAC may be permitted, but concentrated or expanded preparations and longevity claims trigger ATMP rules.
United States
The FDA generally treats minimally manipulated same-surgical-procedure BMAC as exempt, but anti-aging/systemic use falls outside that exception and is unapproved.
United Arab Emirates
Offered as an autologous orthopedic procedure at DHA-licensed clinics; not validated for longevity.
United Kingdom
Same-procedure autologous use may be allowed; longevity indications are unapproved.
