Acronym

ATA (atmospheres absolute)

A unit of pressure used to describe how much a hyperbaric chamber is pressurised, where 1 ATA equals normal sea-level atmospheric pressure.

ATA stands for atmospheres absolute, the pressure unit clinics use to describe hyperbaric oxygen sessions. At 1 ATA the pressure equals ordinary air at sea level; a typical hyperbaric protocol runs somewhere between 1.3 and 2.5 ATA. The figure describes the chamber pressure only and says nothing about outcomes.
